Hair Oiling, an ancient Indian massage technique

India is a country of colors, music and many traditions.

There is a strong link with spirituality, and as we see the Indian Goddesses and the reflection in women, long hair is a common practice for women of all ages.

Long, healthy hair symbolizes beauty, strength and feminine power.

One of the ancestral rituals used to care for the hair is “Hair Oiling”, which is not only a beauty ritual but also a tradition of love, which strengthens the bonds passed down from generation to generation.

What does Hair Oiling mean?

According to the Indian science of Ayurveda, Hair Oiling is a treatment typically practiced before bathing or the night before washing, which consists of taking advantage of the regenerative powers of natural oils by applying them to the scalp and hair with the aim of nourishing and moisturizing them, thus reducing dehydration and strengthening the hair.

How is it applied?

The massage is performed with the fingertips on the scalp, temples and neck, which will help to exfoliate, moisturize and improve circulation, allowing for healthy hair growth.

It is believed that this massage activates the seventh chakra.

The seventh chakra, the crown chakra, which is connected to the pineal gland, works to calm our mind. It is located at the top of the head and is the center of connection to the universe and the entry point for energy.

Sanskrit the oldest language, the origin of all languages:

Sanskrit is the ancient Indian language, considered to be the mother of all languages; and in Sanskrit “sneha” has 2 meanings: oil and love, and this is no coincidence!

In Indian culture, oil massage means giving love, which is why it is a tradition that is passed down from generation to generation.
