Acidification | Technique used to balance hair with a very high PH level

Acidification
A technique used to balance strands with very high pH levels.

First of all we need to know the Ph of the hair, children have a Ph of around 6.5/7, in other words, we are born with a neutral Ph and over the years it becomes acidic with Ph values of 5.5 to 4.5, so an adult can use children’s products to sanitize the hair and skin, especially if they are sensitive and prone to allergies, it won’t hurt, as they are soft and delicate, but the opposite can be harmful as adult products have a more acidic Ph.

Knowing that the Ph of adult hair is around 5.5 to 4.5, how does the Ph imbalance in the hair occur? Through chemical processes, chemical transformation processes, with a Ph above 7.1, because the higher the Ph the more the cuticles of the hair open and the chemical agents are able to modify the pigment (color) and the structure of the hair, so it is very important, after defrizzing, to use a neutralizing product to cut the destructuring effect of the hair and a conditioning agent to seal the cuticles that will protect the modified structure.

However, some hair becomes alkalized, i.e. with a high Ph level above 7.1.

How can you tell if your hair has high pH?
Hair with a high Ph level has open “scales”, looks dry, doesn’t seem to hold moisture, gains volume and loses its shape.

All these issues can create worrying problems, because the cuticles of the hair, as well as becoming dull and devitalized, are responsible for protecting the internal structure of the hair: if the cuticles of the hair are damaged and open the hair will lose proteins (hair mass) and melanin, which is responsible for the color of our hair.

But there’s no need to get upset and go for the scissors! You can restore the health of your hair using products with a low pH, such as the Avani Spider’s Web Mask which will help seal the cuticles. With the cuticles sealed, the hair will hold the treatments in place and gradually recover its health, especially with the help of Avani’s CC/Cronograma Capilar, which we love.

The mask is super nourishing and has a wonderful consistency and smell. It has a technology with superior cosmetic adhesion to the hair fiber. The name “spider web” is precisely because this mask has a technology that adheres very easily to the hair, just like a web could, due to its fine texture. It is suitable for low poo and is vegan. Its pH is 4 and the main ingredients are: Argan oil, shea butter, coconut oil, amla extract and silica.
